Michael Forrow

Club Coach

UKCC Judo Coach Level 2

Coaching Experience

I have been a Judo Coach of 10 years with experience with Mainstream and Additional Needs players, who in age have ranged from 5 years onwards.

I have spent most of my time coaching at Westerleigh but was given the opportunity to be Assistant Coach at the Special Olympics National Game 2017.

I have also spent a small amount of time coaching at Buckswood School, teaching over 60 youths per session.

Playing Experience

I started Judo at the age of 15, competing at my first competition at the YMCA in Hastings. From that point onwards I have travelled to various counties for competitions ranging from small club competitions to international level.

In that time, I have trained with some of the countries best players that have represented Great Britain at the Olympics, Ben Quilter and Ashley McKenzie to name a few.

When I reached my early 20s I started to focus on coaching and helping the next generation of players come through the ranks.

Extra Info

From the moment I joined Westerleigh, I had a school nickname follow me which ended up becoming my judo name; Larry!

Over the years of being part of the club, I have done the vast majority of IT Support for the club, and continue to do so. This has ranged from simple templates being made on Word to making/editing DVDs to sell at the club, to becoming the webmaster & social media correspondent.

My current grade in Judo is 1st Dan
