UKCC Club Coach Level 2

 Coaching Experience

 I am a UKCC Level 2 Judo Coach and have been a proud member of Westerleigh Judokwai for over 20 years.

During my coaching journey, I have supported athletes at mainstream competitions as well as on the international stage through Special Olympics, including the World Games and European Games. Coaching at these events has been a rewarding experience, allowing me to help athletes perform at the highest level while representing both Westerleigh and Great Britain.

Competitive Background

Over the years, I have competed in numerous judo competitions, with one of my proudest achievements being a member of the Sussex Men's Team, helping the team secure victory in the Sussex Teams Shield.

I have also had the opportunity to train alongside some of Great Britain's leading judoka, including Olympians Ben Quilter and Ashley McKenzie, experiences that have greatly enriched my understanding of the sport.

About Me

Judo has always been a family passion. Every member of my family has been involved in the sport in some capacity, whether through competition or by volunteering with Special Olympics Great Britain and supporting Westerleigh Judo Club in various voluntary roles.

I am especially proud of my three sons' achievements in judo. My eldest son became the first Special Olympics World Judo Champion for the club, winning the first World Games gold medal in judo, while my two younger sons have both achieved European Games gold medals and World Games silver medals.

Being part of such a strong judo family has reinforced my belief in the values of dedication, inclusion, and supporting athletes to achieve their full potential.
