Coaching Experience

As a UKCC Level 3 Judo Coach specialising in both mainstream and additional needs coaching, I have had the privilege of representing Westerleigh Judo Club both nationally and internationally. Through my work with Special Olympics, I have coached athletes around the world, proudly promoting the club and supporting judoka to achieve their full potential.

My international coaching experience includes serving as Head Coach at four Special Olympics World Games, Assistant Coach at a further World Games, and Head Coach at two Special Olympics European Games.

 

Achievements 

Throughout my coaching career, I have been honoured to make a significant contribution to the development of inclusive judo in Great Britain. I played a key role in introducing judo into Special Olympics Great Britain, helping to create opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities to compete and thrive.

My contributions to the sport have been recognised through a number of coaching awards, including being named BBC South East Coach of the Year.

I am also proud to be the Head Coach of the first judo club to receive The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, recognising the outstanding commitment and impact of the club within the community.

For over 20 years, I served as the Judo Technical Advisor for Special Olympics Great Britain, helping to shape the development of the sport nationally while supporting the growth of athletes, coaches, and inclusive judo programmes across the country.

 

About Me

I have been involved in judo since the age of 21 and remain passionate about providing high-quality coaching in an inclusive, supportive environment where every judoka has the opportunity to succeed and enjoy the sport.
