Westerleigh Judokwai is a Main Stream and Special Needs Judo Club that was founded in 1995 by two brothers, Paul and Chris Everest. Since 1995 the Club has grown to the extent of having over a hundred members ranging from 5 years old and over and has gone from strength to strength ranging from producing Area Squad members and European & World SN Champions to being awarded the BJA Club of the Year 2012 and the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2015 – the only club to date within the BJA to receive such an award!
Westerleigh prides itself on the inclusiveness of its sessions!
We are one of a few clubs in the country that have our Main Stream and Additional Need players train together at the same time on the mat.
Our aim is to push our players in the direction they want to achieve, whether that be podium finishes or just a means of getting fitter, we will support you all the way - we accept everyone, no matter your shape or ability!
With just over a hundred club members, being a part of our Judo Club feels more like a second family. Besides organizing Judo-related events, we also make sure that all of our players/volunteers get time to get to know each other via social and community events.
